Emergency Surgery

The following times are available for nurse emergency surgeries:

  • Monday to Friday – Mornings (9.00am – 12.00pm)
  • Monday to Friday – Afternoons (1.30pm – 4.00pm)

We will see you during these sessions if you come in and have a serious or urgent problem, are acutely ill or in pain or distress. Please make it clear to reception that your problem is urgent. We would appreciate it if you ring first but you can just come in and ask to be seen in our emergency surgery.

Please use this service appropriately; it is unfair if you use it to consult ahead of others, who are waiting for a booked consultation, for problems that can wait for a scheduled appointment.  We reserve the right to ask you to make a booked appointment if we feel you are using the emergency surgery unfairly.

Please be aware that at times of higher demand it may be necessary for safety reasons to limit the emergency list.  We will always however see patients in a genuine emergency situation and alternative options to access health advice will be offered including information regarding the Walk-In Centres in Exeter.

Please Note  Do not use this emergency surgery to obtain routine mitigation letters – send an email to studenthealth@exeter.ac.uk or contact Reception to discuss this process.
